Al Colby is a transactional attorney whose practice is focused primarily on commercial lending and real estate and business transactions. Al has broad legal experience in commercial lending, real estate and general business matters, including representation of lenders and borrowers in commercial loan transactions negotiation and drafting of purchase agreements and other agreements concerning real property, conducting due diligence and closings, issuing title insurance and opinion letters, entity selection and governance and corporate and general business contracting issues.

In November 2002, he joined Mechanik Nuccio as a shareholder. He is a former member of the Executive Council of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar, where he served as the Chair of the Member Communication and Information Technology Committee and as a member of the Real Property Financing and Lending Committee and the Third Party Legal Opinions Committee.

Al graduated from Duke University cum laude in 1981 and Stetson University College of Law summa cum laude in 1993. Prior to entering the legal profession, Al spent almost ten years as a software developer and consultant for companies in Boston and Tampa.

Al has resided in Tampa, Florida, since moving from Boston in 1988. He is active in community affairs, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Governance Board of the Tampa Metropolitan YMCA.  He also is an assistant coach for the H.B. Plant High School girls basketball team.
